An overview of the different types of media industries and how they can all work together.
Media companies create content to make money from people watching, reading, or listening to it. One exception is public service broadcasters which are funded in other ways.

All media companies promote their content to attract and keep their audience. They use branding to create a clear identity that people recognise and trust. Over time, they strengthen this identity through advertising and new content that matches their values.
Pixar is a good example of this. Their animated films, like Inside Out and Finding Dory, have a similar style to Toy Story. This makes their brand easy to recognise. When people see Pixar’s animation, they connect it with the company’s name and logo.
Many large media companies have logos that people recognise, like the BBC’s block letters. Sometimes, a big company buys a smaller one to use its branding. This happened when Disney bought Pixar.
