This part of the course focuses on helping you build practical abilities across areas like planning, production and post-production. You will experiment with industry standard tools, practice techniques used in the industry and learn how to reflect on your progress so you can improve. By the end, you will produce a short media piece that shows how your skills have developed.

Production Brief 📋

You have been asked to create a media product that is impartial .

You should think about how to create an impatrial media product that includes different views. For example, you can:

  • Show different sides of a story, topic or issue
  • Use facts to support views and opinions
  • Stay neutral to avoid exaggerating results

You must follow the media production process for your chosen media sector to create your final product.

Task 1: Pre-Production 📝

You will plan your media product and explore ideas:

  • Generate your ideas and develop them
  • Experiment with different techniques
  • Using media skills to shape your ideas into plans
  • Review your work and improve as you go

  • Your ideas and how they have developed
  • Pre-production documents e.g. Script, Shot List etc.
Pre-Production
Task 2: Production and Post-Production 🎞️

You will make the media product and refine it until it is ready to publish:

  • Producing content using practical skills
  • Editing and combining your footage
  • Export the final version as a video file

The final product should be between 30 Seconds and 2 Minutes.
